Talking About Olive Oil Tasting Bars

By Katie Onson

Olive oil tasting bars are amongst the most unique shops for people to do business in. For those who do not know, or have never visited these locations, they sell different types of oil while allowing the opportunity to sample different products. This is done through on-tap sampling, with the usage of Italian containers known as fusti. These outlets are promising, to say the least, but it seems like there is discussion about whether or not they will last.

According to The Olive Oil Times, these types of bars have quite a bit of history to them. Keep in mind that these started off in Europe before spreading to the United States, which resulted in more than one thousand different stores opening. It's easy to see that the concept of this store can catch anyone's intrigue. However, I do not think that anyone anticipated just how much popularity they would have attained in the United States.

Not only does this on-tap sampling system work to increase sales but broaden horizons as well. Before this, I wasn't too sure if I would go for olive oils which contained different spices. However, with the idea of sampling in place, I was able to confidently invest in products I probably wouldn't have in a different scenario. Food experiences should be rewarding, according to authorities such as Unaprol, and I believe that a situation like this is no different.

However, one has to wonder if these types of stores are nothing more than trends. The aforementioned article detailed that retail food sampling regulations change from one state to the next, meaning that rules in New York are not going to be exactly the same as those in Michigan. Obtaining permits can be made a challenge, which is why certain states aren't home to these tasting bars. Things can change but it's talking point that's worth expanding on.

These types of bars are strong, to say the least, and I believe that they can appeal to anyone who enjoys food in general. On-tap sampling, as well as general food quality, helps these to rise to greater levels than expected. However, it's easy to see that permission to open these kinds of bars will be more easily obtained in some areas as opposed to others. Hopefully these regulations become less strict in time so that olive oil tasting bars are made more universal.
